On the upcoming 20th. of March there will be the opening of a big overview exhibition, called ‘CATCH OF THE DAY’ by David Bade in GEM, museum of contemporary Art in the city of The hague (www.gem-online.nl) . This show runs till the 27th. of June 2010. In GEMAK (www.gemak.org) in The Hague as well will be simultaneously shown the more social-environmental parts of his work(www.arteswa.com) (www.institutobuenabista.com). The ongoing workshops overthere will pour into a permanent sculpture/installation for the Hofstede Praktijkschool schoolyard. In addition to the occasion a major monograph will be published.
For this small exhibition ‘It is a long way coming home’ at gallery Metis –NL, Bade made some new drawings and paintings.

The show
Monica Ragazzini (Forli, Italië, 1967) woont en werkt sinds haar studie fotografie aan de Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Zij is al eerder gesignaleerd in een aantal publicaties met haar indringende foto’s van ‘zwevende’ kleding tegen de achtergrond van Nederlandse luchten en met haar serie “Angels”, een doorlopende serie kinderportretten. Haar werk komt voort uit de traditie van de portretkunst. Haar iconologische beeldopvatting en barokke stofuitdrukking geven blijk van haar ervaring met de vormentaal van haar achtergrond, het katholicisme. De subtiele psychologische spanning in haar portretten en de heldere, ongecompliceerde composities geven een verstilling die ook aansluit bij de traditie van de portretfotografie in Nederland. Daarnaast presenteert Monica Ragazzini haar unieke benadering van het genre tweelingfotografie.
Las Niñas is Monica Ragazzini’s debuut in Galerie Metis-nl.
